Although it looks really complicated, it's actually quite easy to learn how to do yours, or someone elses, hair in a French braid. The first thing you will do is brush the hair to remove all tangles, and smooth on a holding gel or mousse. The mousse will help keep your hair in place while you work on it.

You will then take a section at the front of the hair where the bangs are or would be. This section should be from temple to temple (right above the each ear line).

You'll want to separate this section into three parts, then start braiding the right section over the middle one. Remember to hold the braid tight or some of the hair will slip out of your hands.

Then, braid the left section over the middle section. You should keep a spritz bottle full of water on hand, just in case your hair begins to dry out. Hair that's wet rather than dry is a lot easier to handle.

The next step is to get a comb and use it to take a strip of hair from your head, on the left side. You'll be taking this strip of hair about an inch down from the temple. Then you will add it to the left section of the braid.

Repeat this step for the right side of your head; after that, bring the right section of hair over the middle one. Continue on, braiding the left segment over the middle section.

You will continue braiding and adding sections of hair until you get to the bottom of the head. Finalize the French braid by braiding the loose sections of hair up into a normal braid.

You can tie the end of the hair with a ribbon or pony tail holder. If you practice, learning how to do hair in a French braid is not as hard as it looks.
